    Parkify was started by UC alumni who hated parking near campus and in the city. The staff at Parkify are experts on connecting spot owners with desparate drivers looking for valuable parking spaces. The parkify app will be available on the iTune app store and on Google play, and Parkify will be launching its service at Cal and UCLA this fall.

    Appington is a SaaS platform that mobile developers use to inject the power of voice into their apps.  Think of Appington as the Urban Airship + Flurry for Voice in Apps.  Developers use the Appington platform to create, optimize and manage voice prompts in their apps for increased retention and monetization.  When using Appington developers are seeing a dramatic impact in their 1-day and 7-day retention numbers as well as in virtual item consumption.  This has caught the attention of some of the largest game publishers, and Appington is now rolling the product out in their most popular games.

    Founders: Sumit Gupta and Vikas Gupta Status: Raised $1M Seed Round in April 2012

    Their Story

    Bash Gaming is the #1 producer of cross-platform casino games in the world. They have been highly profitable since launching Bingo Bash in late 2011 and now have millions of users of the game on mobile devices and online. The company will continue to release complementary new casino games across all platforms.

    Gimmie is a Singapore based provider of loyalty tools and software targeted towards digital content publishers who want ways to reward their top users across multiple geographies. With an easy to use and customizable interface, content owners can be connected to offline merchants opening up new revenue. Gimmie is supported by global investors including Silicon Valley incubator Tandem, angel investors from Brazil and Asian Investors Wavemaker Labs,  the Singapore NRF TIS scheme and Ideosource.

  • UpOut

    Founders: Martin Shen and Will King Status: Raising $500K seed round with over half closed

    UpOut is the next-generation directory for local discovery. Their website and apps combine local, mobile and social to influence what people decide to do with their time for fun. Their service is growing quickly in the Bay Area, and they have a platform to quickly scale it across other markets in the coming months.

  • Flit

    Founder: Adrian Lall Status: Raised $800K seed round in June, 2012

    Their Story

    Flit provides an entertaining and social shopping service for women on the iPad and looks to replace the browser as the way women shop from their tablets. The first Flit release enables women to move from an interesting Pinterest image to an immersive shopping experience. They will expand the power of the service over the coming months.

  • Attassa

    Founders: Rod Frey, David Quail, Dwayne Mercredi Status: Acquired by Yousendit in 2010

    Their Story

    Attassa transformed Microsoft Outlook into a business-rich browser for web services. They established a strong network of channel partners who used Attassa to deliver their services directly to Outlook users. One such partner, Yousendit, acquired Attassa, and the team is now leading much of the combined company's mobile and technology efforts.

  • FlightCaster

    Founders: Jason Freedman and Evan Konwiser Status: Acquired by NextJump in 2010

    Flightcaster offered mobile tools to consumers for improving their travel experience. NextJump acquired the company in 2010, and much of the original Flightcaster team now runs the travel vertical for NextJump.

  • MyTownPerks

    CEO: Rich "Raz" Razgaitis Status: MyTownPerks was acquired in 2012

    Their Story

    MyTownPerks is a small and medium sized business marketing engine featuring a transactions-based loyalty rewards program. Initiated in December '12, MTP quickly grew to be one of the top three largest, and fastest growing, transactional rewards companies in the market. With a small product-oriented team, MTP very quickly built and launched two front end websites, an iOS mobile app that allowed for paperless redemption of rewards based on geo-fencing at the point of sale, a proprietary Java-based back end engine with PCI level 1 compliance and real-time data processing capabilities, secured several credit card processing partnerships enabling coverage for all major credit cards with over 10 million merchants, and acquired nearly 1,000 merchants and over 60,000 consumer contacts in 18-markets across the U.S.

  • Localyte

    Founders: Andy Miller and Sudheer Thakur Status: Acquired by NileGuide in 2010

    Their Story

    Localyte built a community of over 100,000 local experts in over 10,000 towns across the globe, all of whom were interesting in helping travelers. This expert network produced over 1 million words per day in fresh content and has plugged seamlessly into NileGuide’s core service since being acquired in 2010.

    Millions of people used Zumo to access their media on their mobile devices. Zumo was acquired by Motorola in 2010 and now forms the media “heart” of the Droid Bionic and other Android-based phones from Motorola.

    PagerDuty is the “9-1-1 dispatch” system for IT, helping operations engineers, DevOps and developers resolve IT system problems as quickly as possible. PagerDuty aggregates errors from all of your IT monitoring tools and handles the people part of the equation: alerting (via phone, SMS or email), on-call scheduling and automatic escalation of critical incidents.
